GasTOPS' Employees Receive Prestigious Canada Aviation AwardsOttawa, Canada (PRWEB) May 7, 2008 -- It is with great pleasure that GasTOPS announces that "Dr. Bernard MacIsaac, founder and past-CEO of GasTOPS, and William Rogers, the company's current Production Manager, have received the C.D. Howe and Romeo Vachon Awards respectively for outstanding achievements in the field of Canadian aviation." The awards were presented by the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute (CASI) at their Annual Conference in Montreal.
The C.D. Howe Award In 1966, CASI introduced the C.D. Howe Award in honour of The Right Honourable C.D. Howe. The Award is presented for achievements in the fields of planning and policy making, as well as overall leadership in Canadian aeronautics and space activities.
Dr. Bernard (Bernie) MacIsaac Dr. MacIsaac founded GasTOPS Ltd. in 1979 and built the company from a one-man firm into a world-class aviation supplier with operations in Ottawa, Halifax, and Pensacola, Florida. Under his leadership, the company successfully developed and commercialized a number of innovative new products and systems for aircraft health monitoring including an inductive sensing technology for the detection of wear metals in aircraft oil lines and the use of energy dispersive X-ray technology for on-site oil debris particle analysis. The success of the company has been, to a great extent, the result of his technical, management and entrepreneurial stewardship and his commitment to engineering excellence. Bernie is a registered Professional Engineer, and a Fellow and former-President of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute.
The Roméo Vachon Award The Roméo Vachon Award was introduced in 1969 by CASI in memory of one of Canada's premiere bush pilots. It is presented for outstanding display of initiative, ingenuity and practical skills in the solution of a particular challenging problem or series of problems in aeronautics or space activities in Canada.
William (Bill) Rogers In the three years since he assumed full responsibility for the company's production facilities, Bill has been an instrumental driving force in modernizing the production performance of GasTOPS' aviation products, including the design and development of a number of unique fixtures and tooling, replacing earlier hand methods. His current efforts are focused on increasing throughput and decreasing costs, while maintaining constant vigilance on the demanding requirements of the AS9100 Quality Management System for aerospace manufacturing. Bill is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology and a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
